Here’s another patch upgrade for a guy who shares my surname, Jett Woo @jettwoo_
1. Jett is a Chinese Canadian, hard-hitting, two-way defenseman from Manitoba. His dad, Larry played in the @westernhockeyleague. Be sure to read my prior post on Larry, who also had a role in the movie “Goon.” Jett also has a younger brother, Jonas, who is 15 and playing Midget AAA for the Winnipeg Bruins; Jonas has also already played a few games in the WHL for the @wpgicewhl.
2. Jett was reportedly named after the famous actor and martial artist, Jet Li, as Jett’s grandparents were supposed to host the famous actor on a trip to Canada, which never came to fruition, but Larry still liked the name.
3. Jett developed as a dominant defenseman playing in the W for the @mjwarriors, which prompted the @canucks to draft him 37th overall in the 2018 @nhl Entry Draft. After the draft, he had a monster season in 2018-2019, scoring 66 points in 62 games, followed by a season with the @whlhitmen where he put up 46 points in 64 games as an assistant captain of the team.
4. Jett’s confidence seemed to take a hit after the trade to Calgary and his being skipped over for the World Junior Championships in 2020, but he has rebounded. His pro career began in 2020-21 with the @uticacomets, where he scored 5 points in 28 games. This season, he is suiting up for the Abbots Canucks, where he has 7 points in 20 games. Jett is working on improving his game for the NHL level.
5. Jett wears #4 as an ode to Bobby Orr and Shea Weber. This kid is fun to watch and should be a fan favorite with Vancouver’s fans if given the chance.
