Dennis Yan @den_97 -
1. Dennis is a Chinese and Russian American sniper from Portland, Oregon. He plays a physical game and has a tremendous shot.
2. He grew up playing in the U.S, moved to Russia when he was 7, returned to the U.S. to play hockey as a teen, and then moved to juniors in Canada. As a teen, he played for Belle Tire AAA and the prestigious @usntdp. He won a Gold medal with Team USA at the U-17 World Hockey Championships in 2014.
3. For juniors, he moved to the @lhjmq_qmjhl_, where he suited up for the @cataractes_shaw and lit the lamp with 208 points in 185 games. His offensive flair made him a high @nhl draft pick (64th overall) by the @tblightning in the 2015 Entry Draft.
4. He played 3 seasons in the @theahl with the @syracusecrunch but was unable to recapture the dominant, consistent offense he displayed in juniors, scoring 63 points in 149 games.
5. The Bolts opted not to re-sign Dennis, and he’s currently a free agent. For the 2020-2021 season, he transferred to Austria, where he played for the Steinback Black Wings in 13 games recording 5 points. Dennis’s impressive size, skill, and NHL level shot make him an intriguing prospect. Given he is still only 24, a return to North America with a team looking for a scoring threat is not out of the question.
