Asian Hockey Card Collection

Next up is an upgraded post for a guy who’s been a loyal follower since I started this account and who’s a super down to earth kid, Guanhua Wang @guanwan8  -

1. Guan was a power forward from Beijing. At 5’11 and 200 pounds, his scoring touch and size made for an intriguing prospect. He is the first Chinese-born forward to suit up in the @ushl.

2. His dad is Anfu Wang, who was a famous hockey player in China and was captain of the national team for several years.

3. Guan played a couple seasons at the esteemed @shattuckstmaryshockey (I remember reading about him on hockey message boards), where he racked up 31 points in 55 games. He went on to play for the @waterlooblackhawks of the USHL, the Springfield Junior Blues of the @nahlhockey, and the @krschina of the @khl.

4. After retiring from competitive hockey, Guan served as an assistant coach for the Kunlun VHL and MHL teams, @org_hockey and @krs_bsu_vhl.

5. He has since returned to the U.S. and owns a restaurant, @ichiban.ia, in his hometown of Ames, Iowa. I am dying to try one of his famous sushi tacos!

If you notice the autograph is not on the card itself, blame Guan. He signed the top loader and not the card! I guess he didn’t go to Shattuck for his education! 😂😂😂
