Here’s another beauty upgrade, and it has an @anaheimducks patch! Kiefer Sherwood @sherwood44 

 

1. Kiefer is a Japanese American winger from Columbus, Ohio. 

2. His mother’s favorite player was Paul Kariya because of their common heritage; Kiefer and his younger brother, Kole (@kolesherwood), thus idolized Paul. 

3. While Kiefer was not drafted, he was invited to a @bluejacketsnhl development camp in 2015 and then went to play for @miamiuniversity for 3 years, scoring 86 points in 106 games and earning a contract with the Ducks. 

4. On “Paul Kariya Night” (the night Kariya’s jersey was retired), Kiefer donned a Kariya jersey during warmups, met his childhood idol, and ended up roofing a shot that game. Kiefer remarked, “It was pretty special. It’s pretty funny how things work out sometimes, but I kind of told myself it would be really cool if it happened tonight and it did.” 

5. Kiefer has since been playing for the @coloradoavalanche organization, shifting between the AHL @coloradoeagleshockey and the parent team.

I’ve personally watched this guy when he was on the Ducks, and he simply has too much talent to not have a permanent spot in the Show. More on his brother, Kole, tomorrow!
