Kyle Kawamura @kyle_kawamura -
1. Kyle was a Japanese American, skilled forward with an unmatched compete level. He was born in Franklin, Tennessee in 1999 (the inaugural season for the @predsnhl). He began playing hockey after ice skating at a birthday party.
2. Kyle was a prolific scorer in Bantam AAA and was the first Tennessee born player to achieve star recognition in hockey. Over two seasons with the TPH Thunder, he racked up 205 points in 101 games and captained the team.
3. As a teen, he played 17 games with the @ushl @officiallincolnstars, notching 2 goals.
4. In 2017, Kyle transitioned to the @bchockeyleague and played two seasons with the @bchlkings, scoring 42 points in 82 games.
5. After half a season with the @omahalancers and a season with the NCDC New Jersey Rockets, Kyle turned to coaching. He now serves as an assistant coach for the Lancers.
As one of the first homegrown stars in a non-traditional hockey market, Kyle is evidently a role model for young Tennesseans in the burgeoning Southern hockey community. It’s great to see Kyle still involved in the game he loves at such a young age.
