Malik Kaila @malikkaila - 

1. Malik was a tough, stay at home Indo Canadian defenseman from Squamish, BC, who played every game as if it were his last. He grew up as a @canucks fan, and his celebrity crush was Selena Gomez. 

2. After winning back-to-back @bcehl_aaa championships with the Vancouver NW Giants AAA, Malik kicked off his @bchockeyleague junior career with the @bchlcentennials in the 2013-14 season, where he recorded 8 points and 71 PIMs in 46 games. 

3. He played two more seasons with the Cents, scoring 12 points and 90 PIMs in 85 games. His hard work was acknowledged by his teammates, as he was named their captain and Most Dedicated Player in the 2015-16 season. 

4. As an overager, Malik played his final season of junior hockey with the @avbulldogs, where he suited up for 31 games in 2016-17. 

5. His hockey career was tragically cut short on December 14, 2016, when he was checked head first into the boards and fractured two vertebrae in his neck. While he made a full recovery after extensive rehabilitation, his teammates anointed him their Unsung Hero at the end of the season.
