Matt Dumba @matt.dumba -
1. Filipino Canadian who was drafted 7th overall by the @minnesotawild in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
2. A big, two-way defenseman who has demonstrated the ability to take over games and play big minutes.
3. One of his biggest inspirations in life was his maternal grandmother, Edna Hanson, who adopted 7 children of various races, including Matt’s Filipino mother, Treena.
4. Matt’s body is decorated with more than 50 tattoos, all of which tell stories of his life and family. His first tattoo depicts a dragonfly, a tribute to his late grandmother. At her funeral, a dragonfly flew onto her urn, which is a vivid memory that Matt carries with him.
5. Matt was the first NHL player to take a knee during the National Anthem, he helped form the @theofficialhda, and both he and his brother, Kyle @kdumba33 (his card will be featured in the near future), started “Rebuild Minneapolis” to assist businesses, return jobs, and rebuild the Minneapolis community (Matt personally donated $100,000 to the cause). Clearly, Matt is an exceptional human being and role model, both on and off the ice.
