The next player to be featured is hands down my favorite female player. If you ever read her IG posts or stories, she has some of the best, tongue in cheek one-liners. She’s also the female, Asian version of Bo Jackson (sorry, maybe I’m old and most IG kids won’t know who that is).
Melanie Jue @jue612 -
1. Melanie is a defender (and sometimes forward) of Chinese descent who was born in Richmond, BC.
2. She was a two-sport Division I college athlete. At the prestigious @cornelluniversity, she played for both the ice and field hockey teams. In field hockey, she suited up as a goalie and finished second in save percentage her senior year. On the ice, she led the Big Red to the 2010 Frozen Four championship game her senior season, where she scored twice but her team lost in triple overtime.
3. Melanie represented Canada in the 2015 @isbhf (ball hockey) championships, where she helped the team capture a gold medal. She returned to the team in 2019 and won a second gold medal!
4. From 2014-2017, Melanie served as an assistant coach to the @lu_whockey women’s ice hockey team.
5. In 2017, she went overseas to China to star for the @krschina and @kunlunredstar organizations. She was instrumental in the Vanke Rays’ first @whl_ru championship trophy in 2019-2020.
Clearly, Melanie is a winner at all levels (and in life). When she’s not capturing championships, she’s cracking some great jokes on IG. Aside from her accomplishments in sports, her flair and wit make her a great ambassador for Asian-American hockey players. She’s a lock for the 2022 Olympics.
