Ryan Haruo Kuwabara - 

1. “Kuwie” was a Japanese Canadian power winger from Hamilton, Ontario. 

2. He was drafted 8th overall in the 1989 @ohlofficial draft. Like Ryan Fujita (previously featured), he had a stellar junior career, recording 240 points in 196 OHL games with the @ott67s. He was also named the OHL Scholastic Player of the Year in 1989-90. 

3. Ryan was drafted 39th overall by the @canadiensmtl in the 1990 @nhl Entry Draft. He played a season in the @echlhockey with the Wheeling Thunderbirds and then a season in the @theahl with the Fredericton Canadiens. With Fredericton, Ryan was recognized for his outstanding community service. 

4. Kuwie then went on to have an illustrious 14-year pro career in Japan (with Kokudo and the @easthokkaido.cpa) before a final season in Korea. During this time, he won 5 Japan Ice Hockey League championships.

5. Once his playing career ended, Ryan turned to coaching, and he’s currently an assistant coach with the @flintfirebirds.
