Next up is a revised post for a beast of a player from So Cal, Ryan Letts @lettsryanvii -
1. Ryan “Lettsy” was a Japanese American bruising, self-proclaimed grinder from Newport Beach, California.
2. He started skating at the age of 6 at the Irvine Ice Arena, a rink his father was a co-owner of.
3. As a youth, he played for the legendary 2004-2005 @californiawavehockeyclub 16AAA team that was the runner up for the National Championships. The team included former So Cal NHLers @jonblum7 and @cali_sharp11.
4. Ryan went on to play 5 seasons in the @westernhockeyleague for the @whlhitmen and the @spokanechiefs. He won both a Memorial Cup and WHL championship with the Chiefs in 2007-2008. One of his most infamous plays occurred in March 2009 when he ran @tcamericans goalie Chet Pickard, setting off a line brawl and several fights in the game. The game ended with 17 players receiving game misconducts and 342 PIMs. Lettsy was suspended for 10 games. I wish one of his cards depicted the photo I’ve included with the post. Over 5 WHL seasons, Lettsy racked up 329 PIMs.
5. Ryan finished off his hockey career playing 4 years with the @ulethbridge. He’s now back in the U.S. living the good life in Montana.
It was an honor to get a card signed by this feared So Cal legend. Who would’ve thought he’d also be a tremendous chef as well??? Thanks again for the autograph, Ryan.
