Here’s another So Cal guy that I played a couple beer league games against, Steven Weinstein -
1. “Chewie” was a high flying, puck moving Chinese American defenseman from Los Angeles. He graduated from John Marshall High School.
2. His junior career was with the @bchockeyleague @vernonvipersbchl from 2008-11, where he won 3 championships and a Doyle Cup. Over 153 BCHL games, Steve racked up 59 points. He also served as an assistant captain during his final season.
3. Steve played @ncaaicehockey for @bentleyu from 2011-15, where he scored 105 points in 145 games. Steve was a Hobey Baker nominee in 2014 and named the Atlantic Hockey Association's (AHA) Best Defenseman during the 2014-15 campaign.
4. After graduating with a major in Marketing, Steve’s pro career began with a 3-game stint with the @theahl @springfieldfalcons in 2015; Steve recorded an assist during that trial period.
5. In 2015-16, Steve suited up for the @echlhockey @cincycyclones, scoring 22 points in 52 games. On loan to the Lake Erie Monsters that season, Steve also recorded an apple in 4 games. His final pro season was in the Coast during his final season of pro hockey (2016-17) with the @scstingrayshockey, where he recorded 25 points in 43 games. On another AHL loan to the @thehersheybears, Steve notched 2 assists in 5 games.
