Derek Chin @derek.chin5 - 

1. Derek is a stay at home Chinese Canadian defenseman from Vancouver. His father is originally from Guyana. 

2. Introduced to hockey at the age of 5, Derek played his youth hockey in Vancouver, culminating with a season with the @vancouvertbirds in 2017-18, where he notched 3 assists in 37 games. 

3. His junior career began with the @grandviewsteelers of the @thepjhl. From 2018-20, he tallied 9 points in 51 games for the Steelers. In 2019-20, he hit his stride with the @pjhlknights, where he recorded 11 points in 32 games. 

4. When the pandemic forced Canadian junior teams to cancel their seasons, Derek went overseas to Sweden to play pro. He signed with @vsgfhockey, where he is teammates with fellow Vancouverites and featured players, @whowerton and @bautsy. Over two seasons, Derek has recorded 11 points in 19 games. 

5. Derek is a true student of the game, always analyzing what he can do to excel. To this end, according to Wes, Derek memorizes stick flexes and curves of his teammates and opponents, and he is the “go to” teammate for expert advice on which equipment to use for the most success on the ice!
