There are some cards that are fine pieces of art, and I’ll just buy them for their sheer beauty. This slabbed upgrade is one of them: the colors; design; patch; silver, on card auto; and action shot of one of my favorite players: Jason Robertson @jasonrob19 -
1. Jason is a star Filipino American winger from Arcadia, California. He is the older brother of @nickrobertson01, so be sure to read my earlier tribute to both brothers.
2. Jason was introduced to hockey at the early age of 5. As kids, Jason would shoot at Nick, who played goal at home. The Robertsons viewed hockey as a potential lever to give their kids a leg up for college applications. If Jason wasn’t in the @nhl, his 2nd career choice would have been as a lawyer, like his dad (I wasn’t even close to the NHL, so I took the other route!).
3. Jason lit up the @ohlofficial over 4 seasons with the @kingstonfrontsohl (where he served as an assistant captain for two seasons) and @ohlicedogs, scoring 317 points in 252 games. He also scored 7 points in 7 games with Team USA in the 2018-2019 @iihfhockey World Juniors, coming home with a Silver medal. Jason’s accomplishments and scoring prowess affirmed the @dallasstars decision to draft him 39th overall in 2017.
4. After finishing as a Calder finalist his rookie year, Jason has continued his scoring tear with 41 points in 35 games this season, playing on an action packed line with @jpav8 and @hhinee.
5. Jason is the first Filipino American to play in the the Show. He recognizes the value of his background in serving as a role model for Asian youth, as he once remarked, “[An Asian coach told me], 'This kid looks up to you because you're Asian and there's not a lot of Asians that play in the NHL, who make it somewhere,'" Jason said. "At that time, I thought, that's something that I can be a role model towards. Not a lot of people can do that."
Thanks to @kingdzslash for the deal!
