Yoshimazu “Matt” Kabayama -
1. Matt was a Japanese Canadian center from Foremost, Alberta.
2. He was a productive @westernhockeyleague scorer. From 1981-1985, he played for the @medhattigers scoring 207 points in 267 games.
3. After a brief pro career in Germany, he went on to play two seasons for the @ucalgarydinos.
4. After college, Matt went to Japan, where he enjoyed a successful 11-year pro career and won 3 JIHL championships with the Seibu Bears. Internationally, he represented Japan in the 1998 Olympics as one of the “gaijin samurai” (heritage players) and later won a Gold medal in the 2003 World Championship qualifier tournament.
5. After retiring as a player in 2005, Matt went on to serve as an assistant coach for the @whlhurricanes from 2006 through 2013.
